
My name is Tristan Truscott. Please allow me to me share a story that I believe will encourage you in your pain relief and healing process.
Up until the year 2000 I ran a martial arts academy with over 300 students, taught classes and trained up to 6 hours per day (martial arts, weight lifting, running, swimming, etc). Looking back I see that this was pretty crazy -- there wasn’t nearly enough time for balance and rest.
I put myself through this intense teaching and training schedule because I was so driven to be the best at what I did. I think you might agree that overcompensation in any area of life will eventually backfire.
Well that exactly what happened! By the year 2000 my body was a complete mess and I was mentally at my all time low. I was totally depressed because EVERY joint in my body was screaming at me in pain from the past 25 years of athletic torture I’d put it through.
The only way I was able to push on was from all of my years of martial arts discipline; I’d learned how to ‘go beyond’ my mind and body. Even though my body was sending me some very important signals (physical messages that I needed to slow down and take a look at a few things), I ignored them by using my mental discipline to keep on keeping on... this was a bad idea and eventually it did backfire on me.
Note: This avoiding, ignoring and neglecting the signals our bodies and minds give us can be very dangerous. Listening to the messages can literally save you from major injuries and life-threatening diseases.
One day in the middle of teaching a self defense class my body said ENOUGH!! I fell to the ground and couldn’t move... my lower back went into terrible spasm and I had to be carried out of the Dojo (training hall). Because of my negligence I was literally force to stop and I mean I had to stop everything!!
It was so bad I couldn’t even walk for 2 months. Over the next three years I saw physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and so on... but still I was left with a debilitating back condition. I was so depressed. If you're in pain right now then you know exactly how frustrating this is. I couldn't teach anymore (so I lost all of my students), I had gained a lot of weight and I was going broke from all of the therapy bills.
Since the alternative therapy route hadn't worked for me I ended up going to an “expert” in Beverly Hills. This is where I received a $90,000 surgical back pain treatment recommended by doctors (yep you read that right $90,000). After 12 months of rehab I was still in the same boat - constant pain!
To be honest
I was psychologically at the end of my rope; the previous three years had been bad, but this was too much.
I don't know if you've ever been at that point where you've considered checking out once and for all? I was there, depressed, scared, angry and feeling like I'd never get my life back!

Looking back I don't really know where the strength to keep on trying came from... perhaps it was from the discipline of my years of martial arts training... I could hear my Karate teacher saying, "if you show me a quitter, I'll show you a loser." I realize that can sound heavy to some folks, but for me at times his voice was all I had to keep on pushing and searching for a way out of my misery.
Then one evening while doing some very deep soul searching I came to the realization that my misfortune was somehow going to be a huge opportunity for me to heal my pain and share with others in crisis, even seeming insurmountable challenges, that they too could overcome them. But first I needed to become someone who could, through example, find a way out of his mental and physical prison and then inspire others to push through and overcome their challenges.
With this newly inspired mindset I kept looking (and inwardly asking) for direction. After that night of Soul searching something had definitely shifted. What happened over the next two years was amazing as I was lead through a series of discoveries about the mind, body and healing. My discoveries eventually ended my pain!
It turns out that my low-back condition had become the impetus for a deep research project into some unusual martial arts healing techniques, combined with the rejuvenation powers of the mind! It was a bizarre process, kind of like following your gut instinct, and finding out that it knew the way back home all along!

Even though it took me a full FIVE full years of excruciating pain, searching for answers, trial and error, endless treatments, the surgery and great frustration... I figured out how to heal my body (and my life).
Along my journey I was blessed to discover recovery movements that unwound the tension in my muscles, tendons and ligaments -- I combined them with special mind-body breathing methods I had learned to remove physical and mental fear from my body. Gradually the pain dissipated and today I am healed and training again!!
As a way of fulfilling my mission to help others relieve pain I created this program that teaches the exercises and principles I used to unwind my tension. This is a 2-part DVD program that guides you through 3 specific routines that I used to healing all of the chronic pain i had in my back, neck, hips, elbows, knees and wrists. Today I live full out, my martial arts school is back to full capacity and I am blessed to say that a way out of my misery was shown. I have created this Martial Yoga program as a guide for you to apply these movements that helped me SO much!
